OZZY OSBOURNE released "Down to Earth" on October 16, 2001, ending a six-year studio silence that had followed "Ozzmosis". The Prince of Darkness assembled a formidable crew: Zakk Wylde on guitar, FAITH NO MORE drummer Mike Bordin making his studio debut with the boss after years of touring, and bassist Robert Trujillo, whose only studio appearance on an Osbourne album this would remain before he left to join METALLICA in 2003. Produced by Tim Palmer, the record climbed to number 4 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Swedish chart, driven by the singles "Gets Me Through" and "Dreamer". The latter, a piano ballad Ozzy had carried around for years, became one of his most beloved latter-day songs. Working with Palmer, Ozzy said, reminded him of his days with the late Randy Rhoads.
