I started listening to ARCH ENEMY from this very album - "Wages Of Sin". I really liked this album and was especially amazed to find out that the vocalist was a woman -Angela Gossow. Such growling should be envied by any man! Later I found out that this album was debut for Angela, before a man was a vocalist in the band. Gossow's voice, in comparison to previous vocalist, has more feeling in it, sometimes it sounds as if her heart is breaking. The band got new members and the music changed. Now the band plays melodic death metal. Some fans can be spurned because of that, but, frankly speaking, as for me, this is the best release of ARCH ENEMY, last year's "Anthems Of Rebellion" couldn't outrun it. Besides mildness, ARCH ENEMY added some speed. You'll find branded solos on the album, especially good being Behind The Smile. And traditionally the last but one track is different from the general conception - 90-second instrumental rock-composition. An interesting turn by ARCH ENEMY: they don't put this kind of songs in the end, it's like a break before the final point. You certainly have to listen to "Wages Of Sin", if you haven't already done so!
