MEAT-GRINDER Voskreshenie Iz Pepla

MEAT-GRINDER - is four guys and one girl (keyboards) from Camishin. Well, the name of the band's promising: it must be some death/grind you think. But still (even before listening to the album) I was puzzled with the cover. A group specializing in teeth and scull crashing just can't have such a cover. Some obscure heads, other incomprehensible stuff and everything in different colours: just for a heavy/power band. Interesting, what does the press-release say? And it (to my great surprise) says sympho black metal. I have to listen to it somewhat quicker… Finally I listened to the album and there wasn't an end to my astonishment! You call this sympho black metal? It's rather keyboard music with some death and black metal insets. During the album growling goes after screaming, and next go hideous clear vocals, and sometimes everything in a jumble (I remember screaming resembled the wind's hiss in a middle of a field). And I was stumbled to hear a Soviet motive "Каким ты был, таким ты и остался..." on the fourth track - "Непокорная Душа". What a mess!! Well, the album's debut anyway…

Kashey 8/10
