This split represents a precursor to both band's forthcomung albums. The pressing consisted of only 500 copies of coloured vinyl. But as promo label sends CD-Rs. So now about each band.
EVANESCE - Schemes Of Subversion
In press-release stands, that it's melodic death band, so, I totally agree, but that's not SMDM (Swedish Melodic Death Metal) in vein of IN FLAMES. No! It's quite well music with nice riffs, both death, melodic and progressive. There is a good solo in first composition. Second is a little stronger and heavier. What about third track - "naM elpoeP etaH I", I think, that you guessed, it should be readen from right to left. The same is with track. I specially grabbed it and then inverted. What have I heard? A whole minute some guy tells, that he "HATE PEOPLE", only tell, 'cos there is no music here. Only wind and police siren. Third song (exactly 4th, but "naM elpoeP etaH I" I can't call song) is also not bad, but sounds something other, than first two. It seems recording of this song was in other time. It's more silent. Also a minus of all songs - drums. I don't think this is a real drummer. It seems to be a computer, and not the best programm. :)
CONQUEST OF STEEL - Stadiums Of Steel
Hail to all orthodoxen of heavy metal. Heavy Metal of 70s and beginning of 80s. When it was on border of hard rock. "Stadiums Of Steel" as you could guess from the title is live album. Sometimes it's necessary to hear such releases, to know the roots, to get to know music that used to hear idols of today's young metal bands. Classic!
