SAINTS EVERLASTING REST The Dusk of Millenium

When I first took the CD in my hands I had a strong idea that the yet unknown name (SAINTS EVERLASTING REST) and the name of the album («The Dusk of Millennium») along with the style of the booklet mark either a very sad or a very desperate type of music, or maybe even it was all only a skilfully masked unexpected style. I mentioned “sad” and “desperate” for quite obvious reasons: what kind of music can be played by a band with such a name for themselves and their album?! It must be highly pessimistic concerning the look into the future and contain motives free of pathos. So I wasn’t surprised to find myself diving into the world of despair and hopelessness right from the first notes. It was the world of harmony and eternity where the last link with reality is broken. Yeah, this is the atmosphere this music creates; the band plays excellent doom-metal. In order to have no difficulty defining their style I must say that a couple of the seven album’s compositions have traces of death-metal and the whole album seems to have this particular atmosphere. The verdict is: Atmospheric Doom/Death. If you want some parallels with famous bands then, I think, “Grief of Existence“ reminds me of early AMORPHIS, but you must make no conclusions out of this notion ‘cause in general it’s a fully independent material, which is filled with effort and the ideas of the band; a part of their hearts is in it. Concerning the songs, I really liked two: «Milk is My Paradise» and «Ñarresing Winter». Um, it’s a great pity that the booklet doesn’t have lyrics in it (I really wanted to know what "Milk is My Paradise" is about). To make a conclusion: if you are no stranger to the ideas the band is trying to present, then you have an excellent chance to listen and enjoy!
