Robert Trujillo, bassist of METALLICA since 2003, was born on October 23, 1964, in Santa Monica, California. Before joining the biggest metal band in the world, Trujillo made his name with SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, where his aggressive, funk-rooted bass style on albums like "Lights... Camera... Revolution!" (1990) helped redefine crossover thrash. He went on to play with INFECTIOUS GROOVES and OZZY OSBOURNE — appearing on "Ozzmosis" and touring extensively — and with Jerry Cantrell, before METALLICA recruited him in 2003, famously handing him a million-dollar advance in a moment captured in the documentary "Some Kind of Monster". His thunderous fingerstyle low-end and whirlwind stage presence revitalized METALLICA's live shows. Trujillo has since appeared on "Death Magnetic" (2008), "Hardwired... to Self-Destruct" (2016), and "72 Seasons" (2023), anchoring the longest-serving METALLICA lineup in the band's history.
