DIO were a legendary American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, active from 1982 to 2010. Founded by vocalist Ronnie James Dio following his tenure in RAINBOW and BLACK SABBATH, the band delivered some of the most melodically rich and vocally powerful heavy metal in the genre's history. Albums like "Holy Diver", "Last in Line", and "Sacred Heart" are cornerstone recordings. Dio's unique mythological storytelling — heroism, fantasy, and metaphysical struggle — set a standard for lyrical ambition in metal. Ronnie James Dio passed away in 2010 of stomach cancer.
