GRASP OF SOLITUDE
GRASP OF SOLITUDE began in 2025 as a solo project by Mateusz Rochon, a guitarist from Działdowo in Warmia-Masuria, and became a band proper when vocalist Michał Bejger joined from Brodnica, ninety kilometres up the road in Kujawy-Pomerania. The pair work a seam between death metal and metalcore, and the division of labour is total: Rochon writes the music, plays guitars and bass, programs the drums and handles production, mixing and mastering himself, while Bejger writes most of the lyrics.
Their debut EP Luminara arrived digitally on 22 July 2026, preceded by the single "Hollow". It was meant to be a full-length — the duo cut the material down to six songs rather than pad it out, a decision audible in a record with no dead weight on it. Its low end comes from an unusual choice of instrument: a Squier Bass VI, a six-string sitting between guitar and bass, whose 30-inch scale let them play in standard E an octave down without losing definition. The opening track was tracked on an eight-string, and "Intolerance" on a conventional six. The cover was painted by Hungarian artist Holo Dreamz, whose work has also appeared for ENTER THE VORTEX, KOCYTUS and WORM SHEPHERD.
Both members were born in the 2000s, and the band remains unsigned. Bejger also plays bass and sings in the Polish melodic death metal band TEDD DEIREADH.
