ROOT are a Czech epic heavy/black metal band from Brno, formed in 1988. One of the pioneers and absolute legends of Czech extreme metal, their vocalist Big Boss — with his uniquely dramatic baritone delivery — shaped the character of Central European black metal. Their explorations of dark fantasy, magic, occultism, and Satanism through theatrically charged compositions set them apart from their contemporaries. Signed to Agonia Records, ROOT remain active and revered.
