SODOM are a German black/speed and thrash metal band from Gelsenkirchen, formed in 1982. One of the founding acts of German thrash metal — the third member of the German Big Four alongside KREATOR and DESTRUCTION — their raw, aggressive early releases like "In the Sign of Evil" and "Persecution Mania" are foundational extreme metal documents. Across decades of consistent output under bassist and vocalist Tom Angelripper, they have addressed war, death, politics, and humanity with relentless energy.
