SÓLSTAFIR are an Icelandic Viking/black metal and post-metal/rock band from Reykjavík, formed in 1995. One of Iceland's most internationally celebrated metal exports, they evolved from Nordic black metal into a hauntingly beautiful post-metal and atmospheric rock act rooted in the vast, volcanic landscapes of Iceland. Signed to Season of Mist, albums like "Svartir Sandar" and "Ótta" are regarded as milestones of atmospheric, post-Viking music. SÓLSTAFIR remain active.
