SUFFOCATION are an American brutal/technical death metal band from Long Island, New York, formed in 1989. Alongside CANNIBAL CORPSE, widely regarded as the founding act of modern brutal death metal, their debut "Effigy of the Forgotten" is a landmark of technical brutality that influenced an entire generation. Through decades of relentless activity and landmark releases they have maintained their position at the absolute top of the brutal/technical death metal hierarchy.
