VIRGIN BLACK is an Australian symphonic gothic and doom metal band from Adelaide, formed in 1995. Combining crushing doom metal riffs with chamber orchestrations, operatic vocals, and deeply Christian lyrical themes, they have created some of the most emotionally devastating and musically ambitious albums in the gothic metal canon. Their "Requiem" trilogy is particularly celebrated as a landmark of the genre.
