On April 26, 1975, drummer Nathan Jonas Jordison, known to the world as Joey Jordison, was born in Des Moines, Iowa. As the founding drummer of SLIPKNOT, Jordison became one of the most celebrated and technically gifted drummers in metal history. His ferocious, machine-gun precision behind the kit powered SLIPKNOT's rise from an Iowa underground sensation to one of the biggest metal bands on the planet, with his performances on "Slipknot," "Iowa," and "Vol. 3" setting a new benchmark for extreme drumming in mainstream metal. Beyond SLIPKNOT, Jordison played guitar in MURDERDOLLS and drums in SINSAENUM and ROB ZOMBIE's band. He was controversially dismissed from SLIPKNOT in 2013 while battling transverse myelitis. Jordison was found dead in his sleep on July 26, 2021, at age 46, leaving behind a legacy as one of metal's greatest percussionists.
