SYMPHONY X are going to enter the studio…

Infamous prog stars SYMPHONY X are getting ready to enter the studio to lay down their new album. The band "will be giving bi-weekly (or so) studio reports with news and pictures as the writing process progresses." In the same time SYMPHONY X guitarist Michael Romeo has announced that he will be sharing his knowledge and skills this summer (July 26-30) with the students at the National Guitar Workshop in New Milford, CT.

On March 24, 1979, MOTÖRHEAD released "Overkill" — their second studio album on Bronze Records and their commercial breakthrough. Produced by Jimmy Miller (who had worked with THE ROLLING STONES), the album reached #24 on the UK Albums Chart, a significant milestone for a band that had only been given a chance to record after exhausting their label's patience. "Overkill" captured MOTÖRHEAD at their most raw and powerful: the title track opened with Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor's blistering double bass drum intro — one of the most iconic drum performances in rock history — before Lemmy Kilmister's bass and vocals hit like a freight train. "No Class," "Damage Case," "Stay Clean," and "Metropolis" established MOTÖRHEAD's unique position at the intersection of punk speed and heavy metal power. No one sounded like them in 1979, and no one has quite matched them since.
