DOKKEN's latest CD, "Hell To Pay" (Sanctuary), has sold 3,735 copies during its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Meanwhile, CATTLE DECAPITATION's "Humanure" (Metal Blade) registered a first-week tally of 733, while DREAM EVIL's "The Book Of Heavy Metal" (Century Media) and ANCIENT's "Night Visit" (Metal Blade) shifted 570 and 134 units, respectively.

On March 24, 1979, MOTÖRHEAD released "Overkill" — their second studio album on Bronze Records and their commercial breakthrough. Produced by Jimmy Miller (who had worked with THE ROLLING STONES), the album reached #24 on the UK Albums Chart, a significant milestone for a band that had only been given a chance to record after exhausting their label's patience. "Overkill" captured MOTÖRHEAD at their most raw and powerful: the title track opened with Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor's blistering double bass drum intro — one of the most iconic drum performances in rock history — before Lemmy Kilmister's bass and vocals hit like a freight train. "No Class," "Damage Case," "Stay Clean," and "Metropolis" established MOTÖRHEAD's unique position at the intersection of punk speed and heavy metal power. No one sounded like them in 1979, and no one has quite matched them since.
