Several pieces of news from SCARTOWN, who have recently entered Gigant Record studio to record their new, second full-length album. Notably, it will be recorded without drummer Oleg Sergeev, as the band announced on a dedicated VKontakte page for the new album:
"Due to heavy commitments at his main job, one of the band's founders and our great friend Oleg "Stay Puff" Sergeev has stepped away from SCARTOWN for an indefinite period. Throughout this year, Oleg worked with the entire band on new songs for the upcoming second full-length album, but recently it became increasingly difficult for him to devote 100% of his attention to SCARTOWN. After talking with him, we reached a mutual agreement that the circumstances should not affect the recording of new material. As a result, it was decided that we would record the album with a session drummer and continue working in this lineup until the situation is fully resolved. As always, we very much hope for your support and ask for your understanding regarding this step... We also want to thank Andrey Ishchenko, one of the best drummers on the current domestic scene, who learned the band's concert material in the shortest possible time and is currently preparing to record drum parts for the new SCARTOWN album! We are confident that a professional of such a high caliber will handle his task brilliantly!"
In his welcome letter to the band's fans, Andrey Ishchenko wrote: "It was a great honor for me to receive an invitation to record an album with my good old friends SCARTOWN. I will try to live up to your expectations and give the band a new impulse. We played a set at the recent Red Alert festival in Yevpatoria, a sort of 'test run.' The second such test will be the album recording, and then... we'll see! I hope for your support."
An amateur recording of the song "Pepel" (Ashes), filmed during the band's performance at the Red Alert festival, is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LPGUPUyIXg, as well as on the band's official website and dedicated page, which will be updated nearly every week during the album's preparation.
The new album will be mixed and mastered at Sweden's Black Lounge studio by Jonas Kjellgren, the sound producer behind SONIC SYNDICATE and SCAR SYMMETRY. The album artwork will be done, as with its predecessors the CD "Legends of the Big City" and the EP "Vertical Limit" (all russian-language songs from which are available on the MySpace page at www.myspace.com/scartownband), by Hungarian artist Gyula Havancsak (ANNIHILATOR, GRAVE DIGGER, DESTRUCTION).
