ALTER BRIDGE are hours away from unleashing their self-titled eighth studio album via Napalm Records on January 9. Produced by longtime collaborator Michael "Elvis" Baskette at the legendary 5150 Studios — the iconic facility originally built by Eddie Van Halen — the 12-track record is being hailed as the band's most raw and guitar-driven effort to date. Vocalist and guitarist Myles Kennedy explained that the decision to make the album self-titled was deeply intentional, reflecting his belief that the record captures the pure, unfiltered essence of what ALTER BRIDGE have always been as a band.
The stripped-down approach marks a deliberate departure from the layered textures and sonic experimentation that characterized previous releases like "Walk The Sky" and "Pawns & Kings." Instead, guitarists Kennedy and Mark Tremonti channeled their energy into crafting muscular, riff-heavy arrangements that let the interplay between their instruments breathe. The tracklist includes standout cuts "Silent Divide," "Playing Aces," "Rue The Day" and "Slave To Master," each showcasing the band's trademark blend of melodic sensibility and hard-hitting aggression.
Pre-release reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with several critics calling it their best work yet and praising the organic production that captures a sense of live energy rarely found on modern rock records. The rhythm section of bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips delivers a foundation that is both powerful and nuanced throughout the album's runtime.
The release arrives ahead of the band's massive 31-date European "What Lies Within Tour," launching January 15 at Sporthalle Hamburg with DAUGHTRY and SEVENDUST as support acts. A North American headlining tour with FILTER and TIM MONTANA is confirmed for spring 2026.
