Canadian hard rock veterans HELIX have released "Scrap Metal" via Perris Records, their 14th release on the independent label that has served as their reliable home base for the past two decades. Led by founding vocalist Brian Vollmer, the only remaining original member, HELIX have maintained a work ethic and output that puts many younger bands to shame.

The 12-track album features five previously unreleased tracks that retain the band's classic 1980s sound — big riffs, catchy choruses, and an unabashed celebration of hard rock's golden era. These newly unearthed recordings were pulled from vault sessions dating back to the mid-to-late 1980s, cleaned up and finished with modern production touches while preserving their vintage character. The remaining cuts come from earlier releases like "Old School" and "half-ALIVE," remastered and resequenced to create a cohesive listening experience.

Lead single "Stuck In The 80s" features a blistering guest guitar solo from Sean Kelly, known for his work with CONEY HATCH and as a touring member with GILBY CLARKE. The tongue-in-cheek title perfectly captures the album's nostalgic spirit — a band unapologetically rooted in the era that made them Canadian arena staples, when tracks like "Rock You" and "Deep Cuts the Knife" were in heavy rotation on MuchMusic.

HELIX formed in 1974 in Kitchener, Ontario, and despite never reaching the commercial heights of their American hair metal peers, they built a loyal fanbase through relentless touring and a catalog of infectious hard rock anthems. "Scrap Metal" is a love letter to that legacy and to the fans who have kept the flame burning for over five decades.
