MEGADETH have released "Puppet Parade," the fourth and final advance single from their self-titled farewell album, due January 23 via tradeCraft. The track completes the pre-release campaign for what Dave Mustaine has confirmed will be the last MEGADETH studio album, capping a forty-year career that helped define thrash metal as a genre. Frontman Mustaine explained the track is about "somebody's mundane life and how they go through life with every day being the same as the day before" — a person trapped in a dead-end existence who shows the world only what they want others to see, a puppet performing for an audience that never looks beyond the surface.

Musically, "Puppet Parade" showcases the dynamic range of the final album, opening with a deceptively melodic intro before erupting into the kind of precision thrash riffing that has been Mustaine's calling card since "Peace Sells." Guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, who joined MEGADETH in 2023 after a standout audition process, delivers blistering lead work that complements Mustaine's rhythm attack, while returning bassist James LoMenzo and drummer Dirk Verbeuren lock into a groove that is both punishing and remarkably tight.

The single follows "Tipping Point," "I Don't Care," and "Let There Be Shred" in building anticipation for the full album. Co-produced by Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw, the self-titled record reportedly features ten tracks plus a bonus reimagining of "Ride the Lightning," the METALLICA track Mustaine co-wrote before his 1983 dismissal from the band — a full-circle moment that adds emotional weight to the farewell. The "Megadeth: Behind the Mask" cinema event on January 22 will give fans an advance listen to the complete album alongside a documentary featuring untold stories from Mustaine's storied career.
