MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine has provided further details on the band's farewell campaign, confirming to Kerrang! that the multi-year tour could last three to five years. "We're not rushing this," Mustaine stated. "There are fans on every continent who deserve a chance to see us one more time, and we're going to make sure that happens." The declaration underscores the ambition of what promises to be one of the most extensive farewell campaigns in metal history.

The Canadian leg, featuring ANTHRAX and EXODUS as support, launches February 15 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, British Columbia. The trek winds through Abbotsford, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, London, Ottawa, Halifax, Moncton, and Quebec City — a thorough coverage of Canadian markets that reflects Mustaine's commitment to reaching every corner of the touring world. The current lineup features guitarist Teemu Mantysaari, bassist James LoMenzo, and drummer Dirk Verbeuren alongside Mustaine.

The band's self-titled final album, released January 23, 2026, has been praised for its return to classic thrash form. Produced by Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw, the record channels the technical aggression and political fury that made MEGADETH one of thrash metal's Big Four alongside METALLICA, SLAYER, and ANTHRAX. Mustaine has hinted that the farewell may eventually culminate in some form of Big Four reunion event, telling Consequence of Sound that "there needs to be a MEGADETH-METALLICA tour."

A cinematic legacy documentary, "Megadeth: Behind The Mask," debuted in theaters worldwide on January 22, offering an intimate look at forty years of the band's tumultuous history. Mustaine described the touring plan as "a proper goodbye to every fan who ever believed in us," noting that Latin American, European, and Asian dates are already being planned for 2026 and beyond.
