Metal Hammer has published its tracks of the week for February 27, highlighting an exceptionally strong batch of new metal singles that underscore just how vital the genre remains in 2026. SEPULTURA's farewell single "The Place" leads the list, and rightfully so — the track is a masterful journey from slow-doom atmospherics through mid-tempo groove and into blazing thrash fury, encapsulating three decades of the Brazilian legends' evolution in a single song. As part of their final EP "The Cloud of Unknowing," due April 24, the single carries the bittersweet weight of finality.

LAMB OF GOD's "Blunt Force Blues" earned high praise for its raw tribute to the Richmond, Virginia music scene that shaped the band's identity. The track's grinding groove and Randy Blythe's searing vocals channel the blue-collar grit of their hometown, offering a deeply personal counterpoint to the politically charged fury that has defined much of their recent output. It serves as a tantalizing preview of their upcoming album "Into Oblivion," due March 13 via Epic Records.

ARCH ENEMY's "To the LAST BREATH" introduced new vocalist Lauren Hart — daughter of legendary OBITUARY frontman John Tardy — to widespread acclaim. Hart's powerful, versatile growl has been praised as a worthy successor to Alissa White-Gluz, bringing a fresh intensity to ARCH ENEMY's trademark melodic death metal assault while honoring the band's established sonic identity.

The week also featured notable releases from DARKTHRONE, EXODUS, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, and several underground acts, making late February one of 2026's strongest weeks for new heavy music. The sheer volume and quality of these releases is a testament to the genre's creative health and commercial viability heading into what promises to be a landmark year.
