Legendary New Wave Of British Heavy Metal band MORE have released "Spirits Of War," the first single from their upcoming album "Destructor," due March 6 via their own Warhead Music label. The track has quickly become a live anthem, with audiences at recent performances instinctively singing along to its unmistakable "Valhalla" chorus chant — a testament to the song's immediate, hook-driven power.
Remarkably, "Destructor" represents the final production work of the late, legendary producer and engineer Chris Tsangarides, whose extraordinary body of work shaped the sound of heavy metal for decades. Tsangarides was the sonic architect behind some of the genre's most iconic recordings, including JUDAS PRIEST's "Painkiller," KING DIAMOND's "Fatal Portrait" and "Abigail," HELLOWEEN's "Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I," THIN LIZZY's "Thunder and Lightning," and numerous albums by YNGWIE MALMSTEEN. The last mix for "Destructor" was delivered from his renowned Ecology Rooms facility on the very eve of his passing in January 2018, making this album a poignant final chapter in an incomparable production career.
MORE were formed in 1980 in Romford, Essex, during the explosive NWOBHM era that transformed British heavy metal. While they never achieved the commercial heights of contemporaries like IRON MAIDEN or DEF LEPPARD, MORE earned a devoted cult following through their energetic live performances and melodic yet muscular heavy metal songwriting. Their early singles and albums captured the raw excitement of the NWOBHM movement, and the band's enduring commitment to their craft has kept the flame burning through decades of lineup changes and industry upheaval.
