SLIPKNOT's "Look Outside Your Window" Gets Record Store Day Release

After over a decade of anticipation, SLIPKNOT's mysterious "Look Outside Your Window" has been officially confirmed for a limited Record Store Day vinyl release on April 18, 2026. Only 2,300 copies will be pressed worldwide, virtually guaranteeing that this will be one of the most sought-after and rapidly sold-out exclusives in Record Store Day history.

The album's origins trace back to 2008, when Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and Shawn "Clown" Crahan began crafting experimental material during downtime between sessions for "All Hope Is Gone," SLIPKNOT's fourth studio album. The project quickly took on a life of its own, evolving into something radically different from anything the Des Moines, Iowa nonet had previously released. Reports from those who have heard the recordings describe atmospheric, electronic, and alternative textures far removed from SLIPKNOT's signature wall-of-sound aggression — closer in spirit to acts like DEPECHE MODE or NINE INCH NAILS than to anything on "Iowa" or "Vol. 3."

The album's journey to release has been torturous. Corey Taylor first publicly acknowledged its existence in 2010, describing it as "the most beautiful, dark thing you've ever heard." Over the following years, band members offered tantalizing hints and updates, but the project remained perpetually shelved. Internal disagreements about the timing and format of release, combined with the band's relentless touring schedule and the tragic passing of founding bassist Paul Gray in 2010, pushed "Look Outside Your Window" further and further into the background.

The decision to release it as a Record Store Day exclusive rather than through conventional channels adds to the album's mystique. The extremely limited pressing of 2,300 copies ensures that demand will vastly outstrip supply, making it a collector's holy grail. Metal fans worldwide are already organizing strategies to secure copies from participating stores on April 18, with resale prices expected to skyrocket within hours of the release.
