DEVIN TOWNSEND has officially announced his most ambitious record to date: The Moth, a sweeping 24-track orchestral metal opus due May 29 via InsideOut Music. The announcement arrives alongside the first single "Enter The City," a bombastic, choir-driven piece that wastes no time signaling the scope of what's to come.
Conceived from the ground up as a theatrical, orchestral experience, The Moth features multiple choirs and orchestras recorded across several countries, alongside an all-star cast of collaborators including Steve Vai, Anneke van Giersbergen, and Mike Keneally. The deluxe edition spans three CDs: the album itself, The Moth – The Afterlife (isolating the orchestral and choral layers), and The Moth – The War (a live recording of the material debuted in the Netherlands in March 2025).
"This is a project about sitting with yourself and recognizing the patterns that no longer serve you," Townsend said in the announcement. "It's the most honest thing I've ever made."
