With March wrapping up — a month that brought EXODUS, NEUROSIS, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, and GAEREA — April is shaping up to be equally loaded. Here's a preview of the key releases in the first two weeks.

April 3

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY drop Good God/Baad Man, their first double album in eight years and one of the most anticipated releases of the spring. The Nuclear Blast release covers their full stylistic range: crushing sludge, Southern-inflected groove, and classic hard rock, all filtered through the band's unmistakable identity. Pepper Keenan's return to the fold gives the album its emotional anchor.

GREEN CARNATION release A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis via Season of Mist — the second chapter in their ongoing dark art-rock trilogy, following up 2022's acclaimed first part.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY

ARCHSPIRE drop Too Fast to Die, their fifth album and first as an independent act. Three singles have already generated considerable buzz; the full record promises to be their most focused work to date.

IMMOLATION follow with Descent via Nuclear Blast — a return to their New York death metal roots with 10 tracks of monolithic, dissonant heaviness produced with John Orofino at Millbrook Sound.

DARKTHRONE release Pre-Historic Metal via Peaceville Records — the Norwegian legends' 21st album, described by Fenriz as "monumentally primitive metal." The record draws on the full breadth of their stylistic history, from black metal to doom to heavy metal.

This is one of the strongest two-week release runs metal has seen in years. Mark your calendars.
