GREEN CARNATION have announced A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis, the second installment in their planned dark poem trilogy, scheduled for release on April 3, 2026, through Season of Mist. The album follows A Dark Poem, Part I: Lux and continues the conceptual arc the Norwegian progressive doom band began in 2023.

Two singles have been released ahead of the album: "Sanguis (Blood Ties)," which leans into the band's gothic melodic sensibility, and "I Am Time," released on March 9, a more progressive and expansive track that showcases the compositional ambition that has defined GREEN CARNATION since their landmark debut Journey to the End of the Night (2000). Both tracks demonstrate that Part II will push further into atmospheric and melancholic territory than its predecessor.

GREEN CARNATION — led by founding vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Tchort, who also plays in EMPEROR — occupy a singular position in Norwegian metal. Unlike many of their contemporaries, they have maintained a relatively low profile while producing records of considerable craft and emotional weight. The Dark Poem trilogy represents their most ambitious project since the legendary Light of Day, Day of Darkness (2003), the single 60-minute song that remains their signature achievement.

The band has also announced a hometown performance in Kristiansand as part of the Dirty Old Town Live festival on June 14, with DEEP PURPLE appearing on the same bill.

Season of Mist will issue A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis in LP, CD, and digital formats.
