Four of the five members of KING DIAMOND's legendary late-1980s lineup have reunited under a new banner. LEX LEGION brings together Mikkey Dee (drums; later of MOTÖRHEAD, currently SCORPIONS), Andy La Rocque (lead guitar; KING DIAMOND since 1985), Pete Blakk (rhythm guitar; KING DIAMOND), and Hal Patino (bass; KING DIAMOND) — joined by Nils K. Rue, the longtime vocalist of Norwegian prog metal outfit PAGAN'S MIND.
The supergroup's debut single, "Sleep Eternally," is out now with an official music video directed by Patric Ullaeus — one of the most prolific directors in European metal, known for his work with IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR, and WITHIN TEMPTATION. A second single, "Gypsy Tears," is set to follow.
The self-titled debut album arrives in June 2026 via MNRK Music Group, and the band has announced touring plans for 2027.
La Rocque described the album's sound: "There's elements of everything on it... the right tempo and the right kind of vocals — it starts out like a fist in your face!" He emphasized the band's uniqueness: "No one is writing this kind of music, and there's a big hole for us to fill."
Mikkey Dee echoed the sentiment, calling the project an exercise in pure creative freedom: "LEX LEGION is totally written the way we thought in the '80s. We wrote what we wanted, and if you liked it, that was a great bonus."
The self-titled album features nine tracks, including "When The Stars Align" and "Life Eternal."
