METALLICA Expand Sphere Residency "Life Burns Faster" to 24 Shows

METALLICA have officially expanded their "Life Burns Faster" residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas from the originally announced 8 shows to a staggering 24 performances, making it the most ambitious metal event in the history of live entertainment. The first metal band to headline the $2.3 billion venue — which opened in September 2023 and has previously hosted U2, PHISH, and DEAD & COMPANY — METALLICA will now begin on October 1, 2026 and extend deep into early 2027.

The expansion was driven by unprecedented demand. When tickets went on sale for the initial 8 dates, Ticketmaster registered 12 million simultaneous login attempts — a figure that crashed portions of the platform and left millions of fans empty-handed within minutes. The secondary market immediately exploded, with floor seats commanding upwards of $2,000 and VIP packages exceeding $5,000. The decision to triple the run was, according to the band's management, "the only responsible way to give fans a fair shot at experiencing this."

The residency will follow METALLICA's beloved "No Repeat Weekend" format, meaning every single night will feature a unique setlist drawn from the band's entire four-decade catalog — from "Kill 'Em All" deep cuts to "72 Seasons" material and everything between. The Sphere's 160,000-square-foot wraparound LED screen and Holoplot spatial audio system will be utilized to create an immersive visual and sonic experience unlike any concert in metal history.

Lars Ulrich addressed the expansion in a press statement: "When we first walked into the Sphere, we knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to reimagine what a METALLICA show can be. The response from our fans has been beyond anything we could have imagined. Twenty-four nights means twenty-four completely different shows — that's the promise, and that's the challenge we live for."
