SABATON Release 'Yamato' Single and Video in World of Warships Collaboration

SABATON launched a new standalone single and accompanying music video for "Yamato" on March 13, produced in collaboration with the online naval warfare game World of Warships. The track chronicles the fate of the IJN Yamato — the largest battleship ever constructed — sunk by US aircraft in April 1945 during Operation Ten-Go.

True to the band's signature formula, "Yamato" delivers a chest-beating anthemic chorus over twin-guitar gallop and Joakim Brodén's booming baritone. The track carries a distinctly cinematic edge, taking advantage of orchestral elements provided for the gaming collaboration. The music video features footage and imagery drawn directly from the World of Warships game engine.

No album announcement accompanied the single release. The track lands ahead of what is expected to be a busy touring year for the Swedish quintet.
