Tampa death metal veterans SIX FEET UNDER announced their new studio album Next to Die, due April 24 via Metal Blade Records, and unveiled lead single "Unmistakable Smell of Death." The track blends the aggressive high-speed death metal of the band's recent material with the groovier, mid-paced sensibility of their early-2000s discography.
"It started out as an album full of death metal songs with speed and aggression," guitarist Jack Owen explained. "Then Chris [Barnes] had the brilliant idea to keep half of those death metal songs and add some groovier songs in the vein of the early SIX FEET UNDER material." The band also announced a North American summer tour with KATAKLYSM, running from July 8 through August 11.
