Former NIGHTWISH soprano TARJA TURUNEN has announced her new studio album Frisson Noir, due June 12, 2026 via earMUSIC, alongside the release of lead single "At Sea." The Finnish artist describes the record as the heaviest of her solo career — a wide-ranging work that moves between intimate piano passages, dramatic orchestral textures, and full-blooded guitar-driven metal, all tied together by her unmistakable operatic voice.
The album was mixed by Grammy-winning producer NEAL AVRON, known for his work with Linkin Park, Skillet, and DISTURBED. Guest contributors are formidable: DANI FILTH (CRADLE OF FILTH), the cello ensemble APOCALYPTICA, MARKO HIETALA (ex-NIGHTWISH), and CHAD SMITH (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) all appear on the record, making it TARJA's most star-studded collaborative effort to date.
"'Frisson Noir' is a statement of identity, strength, and belonging," TURUNEN said. "I've never made anything this heavy, and I've never felt more like myself doing it."
Physical formats include a CD digipak, standard black 2LP gatefold, and a limited purple 2LP gatefold with copper foil and embossed logo available exclusively through the earMUSIC store. A world tour — the Frisson Live Tour 2026 — is confirmed to launch September 30 in Berlin, Germany. Full routing is expected in the coming weeks.
