WINTERFYLLETH have released their ninth studio album, The Unyielding Season, their first record for Napalm Records following their previous tenure at Candlelight Records. The ten-track album continues the Manchester band's deeply English approach to atmospheric black metal, drawing on Anglo-Saxon heritage, folklore, and the landscapes of the British Isles.

The record opens with the sweeping "Iron Will," an eight-minute statement of intent that establishes The Unyielding Season's emotional register: grand, melancholic, and rooted in a specific sense of place that has defined WINTERFYLLETH since their 2010 debut The Ghost of Heritage. The production retains the raw edge essential to the genre while allowing the melodic layers — acoustic guitar passages, layered tremolo riffs, atmospheric keyboards — to breathe.

The album closes with a cover of "Enchantment" by PARADISE LOST, taken from the Yorkshire doom legends' landmark 1992 album Gothic. The choice underscores a clear lineage between the Northern English gothic doom tradition and WINTERFYLLETH's own atmospheric black metal — and the band's version honours the original while filtering it through their characteristic sound.

This is the band's first album since The Imperious Horizon (2024), which saw them expanding their acoustic and folk elements. The Unyielding Season pulls back toward the heavier end of their spectrum without abandoning the emotional depth that has made them one of the most critically admired UK black metal bands of the last fifteen years.

Physical editions including LP and CD are available through the Napalm Records store.
