Ex-MEGADETH guitarist Chris Poland — who appeared on two of the band's most important early records — has said he plans to attend at least one show on MEGADETH's current farewell tour, mending old fences in the process.
Speaking to KNAC.COM, Poland was asked about Dave Mustaine's ongoing global farewell run. His response was warm: "I'll make time for Dave." Poland added that he suspects Mustaine may genuinely be winding down: "I think Dave's ready to go fishing."
Poland was a member of MEGADETH from 1984 to 1987, appearing on Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! (1985) and Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? (1986) — records that helped define the American thrash metal sound. He later returned as a featured soloist on 2004's The System Has Failed.
The two men's relationship has had its friction: Poland filed a lawsuit in 2004 over unpaid royalties for demo recordings included without his permission in Rust in Peace reissues. The matter was settled for $9,500. Poland described the dispute as a misunderstanding, while Mustaine has publicly expressed regret over the falling-out.
MEGADETH's self-titled final album was released in January 2026. Their farewell touring schedule extends through 2026 and into 2027, with Dave Mustaine confirming the band plans to spend several more years on the road.
