Japanese death metal veterans DEFILED have released a music video for "Obsession", the second single from their upcoming ninth album Altered State, due June 12, 2026 on Season of Mist. Guitarist and founding member Yusuke Sumita wrote the track around the life of Jack Parsons — NASA rocket fuel pioneer and Aleister Crowley devotee — citing his "explosive demise" as deeply metaphorical. The album, described by Metal Injection as pushing "far beyond genre orthodoxy", centers on altered states of human consciousness and extreme psychology. The video was directed by Seaside99works.
DEFILED will support Altered State with an extensive Japanese summer tour beginning June 9 in Tokyo alongside INCANTATION, followed by fall dates with BRUJERIA.
