DEVIN TOWNSEND has shared the music video for 'Home At Night', the latest single from his forthcoming orchestral metal opus The Moth, due May 29, 2026 via InsideOut Music. Directed by Mike Zimmer, the video offers a glimpse into the emotional heart of one of the most ambitious projects the Canadian progressive metal mastermind has ever undertaken.
Townsend describes the track as deeply personal: "It's one of the first pieces written for the project; it came from the difficulty of being away from home with young kids and a family." The concept for The Moth began over a decade ago and crystallized after the head of the Noord Nederlands Orkest (North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra) approached Townsend following an acoustic show in Amsterdam six years ago.
The album's central theme is self-acceptance and transformation. Townsend employs the moth as a metaphor — a creature that transforms into something entirely different from what it began as — to explore spiritual and personal evolution. The result is a sprawling 24-track opus available in multiple formats: a limited deluxe 3CD+Blu-ray artbook, triple-gatefold 180g 2LP, and digital release.
The project encompasses three distinct parts: the main album, 'The Moth – The Afterlife', and 'The Moth – The War', a live recording from March 2025. Guest appearances include STEVE VAI and ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN alongside longtime collaborators Darby Todd, Mike Keneally, and James Leach.
With The Moth, DEVIN TOWNSEND once again refuses to stand still — transforming his most intimate emotions into a monumental orchestral metal statement.
