EVERGREY Parts Ways With Guitarist Henrik Danhage After 21 Years

Swedish progressive metal veterans EVERGREY have announced a significant lineup change: guitarist Henrik Danhage has parted ways with the band after more than 21 years of collaboration. The band broke the news on April 7 via social media, stating that the decision was mutual: "EVERGREY and Henrik have mutually decided to part ways after working together on and off for 21 years. It is now time for a new chapter for both parties."

Danhage first joined EVERGREY in 2001 when frontman Tom S. Englund brought him aboard. His debut album with the band, 'In Search Of Truth' (2001), is widely regarded as one of the finest progressive metal records ever recorded. He took a hiatus from 2008 onwards to pursue other projects before returning in 2014, going on to contribute to acclaimed releases such as 'Hymns For The Broken' and 2022's 'A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Treatment)'.

In autumn 2025, Danhage took a break from touring, with Stephen Platt of SCAR SYMMETRY filling in for EVERGREY's dates with KATATONIA. The guitarist, who was originally inspired by KISS's 'Alive!' album, has been playing since the age of nine.

Despite the departure, EVERGREY's trajectory remains strong. Their fifteenth studio album, 'Architects Of A New Weave', is set for release on June 5, 2026, and the band is confirmed as a special guest on IRON MAIDEN's "Run For Your Lives" world tour. Fans can expect more details on Danhage's replacement in the coming weeks.
