Ex-VICIOUS RUMORS Guitarist Gunnar DüGrey Richardson Breaks Silence on Larry Howe

28 April 2026  ·  Band News

Former VICIOUS RUMORS guitarist Gunnar DüGrey Richardson — by his own account one of the band's longest-running members, with seven years in the lineup — has gone public with a detailed Facebook statement about Larry Howe in the wake of the drummer's recently confirmed departure.

Richardson says he spent nearly a decade witnessing what he describes as Howe's unacceptable behavior firsthand, and was pushed to speak out after a direct interaction with the drummer — in which Howe called Richardson a "snowflake," praised Trump, referred to Ukraine as "corrupt," and used derogatory language about Kamala Harris. Howe subsequently deleted the thread and blocked Richardson. The guitarist writes that he has spent years documenting Howe's conduct and is now prepared to share that material. He also notes this marks roughly the fourth time Howe has parted with the band.

The screenshot below captures part of that exchange: Richardson's comment drawing a parallel between authoritarian tactics and current American politics, followed by Howe's reply.

Richardson's full statement:

I haven't been able to get on Facebook in the last few days without seeing countless posts about the drama with Vicious Rumors parting ways with their long time drummer Larry Howe (for about the fourth time now mind you). There seems to be a lot of conjecture and people wondering whether or not the claims about him were blown out of proportion. Well, I spent about seven years (making me one of the longest running members in the band's history lol) in close quarters with Larry, which I'd say makes me more qualified to speak on the subject than just about anyone else.

While I didn't exactly part ways with the band under the best of circumstances, I'm not generally one to start drama or air out someone's dirty laundry. However, after nearly a decade of ignoring Larry's unacceptable behavior, we had an interaction the other day that finally brought me to a point where I feel I can no longer stay quiet in good conscience. He's since deleted the thread and blocked me like any brave patriot would. There's so much I could say about him, so many stories I could tell that are so beyond ridiculous that you probably wouldn't even believe me, I think it'd be better to start with what I can show you. Over the years I got in the habit of attempting to document his maniacal rantings and ravings any chance I got just to confirm to myself that what I remembered about him was actually true. Please enjoy some of my most "cherished" memories of Larry being his most authentic self.

I'm sure I have plenty of friends on here that have had their own experiences with him, please feel free to chime in in the comments and share your stories about this truly one of a kind individual.
