New York death metal titans IMMOLATION have unleashed their highly anticipated twelfth studio album, "Descent", today via Nuclear Blast Records. The album marks another crushing chapter in the band's storied 35-year career and continues the devastating sonic assault they have perfected across three decades.
Featuring ten tracks of unrelenting death metal, "Descent" picks up where previous efforts left off while pushing the band's trademark blend of oppressive atmosphere and technical ferocity to new extremes. The album opener, "These Vengeful Winds", sets the tone immediately with a wall of blast beats and dissonant riffing, while tracks like "God's Last Breath" and "False Ascent" demonstrate the band's mastery of tension and release.
The first single, "Adversary", comes accompanied by a music video directed by guitarist and founding member Bob Vigna. The clip perfectly captures the band's dark aesthetic, pairing the track's crushing percussion and commanding vocal delivery from Ross Dolan with suitably bleak imagery.
"Descent" was recorded at two studios with engineer Zack Ohren handling mixing and mastering. The cover art was created by Eliran Kantor with interior illustrations by Santiago Jaramillo. The album is available on CD, vinyl, and digital platforms.
The band stated: "This album takes what we've done on the last couple of records and truly brings it to a new level. The material stays true to our roots, but also goes into some new territory at times."
IMMOLATION will embark on extensive touring in support of "Descent", including the upcoming "The Godless IV 2026 Tour" alongside BEHEMOTH, DEICIDE, and ROTTING CHRIST.
