Norwegian black metal legends IMMORTAL have announced the completion of the songwriting process for their eleventh studio album, the follow-up to 2023's "War Against All."

Band founder and guitarist Harald "Demonaz" Nævdal shared the news via social media: "Greetings, hordes! The writing of the next IMMORTAL album is finished. The new material follows our steady path of fast riff-powered Blashyrkh metal. More news will follow!"

The announcement marks a significant step forward for the band, which released "War Against All" in May 2023 via Nuclear Blast Records to widespread acclaim from the black metal community. The album was hailed as a triumphant return to the raw, uncompromising sound that defined IMMORTAL's classic era.

IMMORTAL was founded in Bergen, Norway in 1990 by Demonaz and Olve "Abbath" Eikemo. The band quickly established themselves as one of the most important acts in the Norwegian black metal scene, releasing seminal albums such as "Pure Holocaust" (1993), "Battles In The North" (1995), and "At The Heart Of Winter" (1999). Reidar "Horgh" Horghagen has been the band's drummer since 1996.

Following the highly publicized split with vocalist and guitarist Abbath in 2014, Demonaz and Horgh continued under the IMMORTAL name with Demonaz stepping forward as sole vocalist. The duo delivered a powerful comeback with "Northern Chaos Gods" in 2018, followed by the critically acclaimed "War Against All" five years later.

No release date for the new album has been announced yet. Further details are expected from the Nuclear Blast camp in the coming months.
