Former SLAYER guitarist KERRY KING is releasing a deluxe edition of his debut solo album From Hell I Rise on June 19 via Reigning Phoenix Music, featuring five previously unreleased demo recordings with King himself on scratch lead vocals.
The expanded edition brings the album to 18 tracks, adding demo versions of "Crucifixation," "From Hell I Rise," "Two Fists," "Rage," and "Trophies Of The Tyrant." On his scratch vocal performances, King stated: "I just sound like an angry white punk kid… I think it sounds kind of adolescent[-like]." He added that these were largely "first takes" and that he never intended to sing because "I can't sing and play that much."
For collectors, a strictly limited Earbook Edition — capped at 666 copies worldwide — contains two vinyl LPs, one live CD, and a live Blu-ray capturing the band's debut performance at Reggies in Chicago. The Earbook is exclusive to Reigning Phoenix Music mailorder in Europe and the U.S.
New cover artwork by James Bousema and additional photographs round out the visual package. KING's live band features Mark Osegueda (vocals), Phil Demmel (guitar), Kyle Sanders (bass), and Paul Bostaph (drums).
