SATANIC PLANET — the experimental metal project featuring legendary drummer Dave Lombardo (ex-SLAYER) — has announced a new deal with Relapse Records for the release of their upcoming sophomore album. The signing comes as a joint venture between Relapse and Three One G Records, the indie label that released the band's self-titled debut in 2021.
The quartet consists of Lucien Greaves (co-founder of The Satanic Temple, vocals), Luke Henshaw (electronics), Dave Lombardo (drums), and Justin Pearson (bass, Three One G founder). The band merges industrial noise, experimental metal, and politically charged lyrical content rooted in The Satanic Temple's secular activist philosophy.
Greaves expressed his enthusiasm about the new partnership: "I'm thrilled to be working with Relapse to bring the world the Satanest music for Satanists yet recorded, sonically suffused with the higher ethics and activist grit of The Satanic Temple." Pearson added: "As a fan of the Relapse musical community, I'm grateful to have SATANIC PLANET on board. I think Relapse's eclectic nature of artists feels like a perfect home for what we have created."
Lombardo joined the project during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown in 2020, when enforced downtime gave him space to pursue experimental collaborations outside the boundaries of conventional metal. His participation brought immediate attention from the metal world, given his status as one of the most influential drummers in thrash metal history through his decades with SLAYER.
The band has upcoming live dates in San Diego, New York, and Baltimore through early May 2026. No release date for the new album has been announced yet, but anticipation is high among fans of both acts.
