German rock veterans SCORPIONS have been forced to cancel their long-anticipated four-city tour of India, citing "unforeseen medical circumstances affecting the band members." The announcement was made today (Saturday, April 18) by tour organizers BookMyShow.

The "Coming Home" India trek would have marked SCORPIONS' first live appearance in the country in nearly two decades — their last performances there were in December 2007. The canceled dates included JN Stadium in Shillong (April 21), HUDA Grounds in Delhi-NCR (April 24), NICE Grounds in Bengaluru (April 26), and Jio Gardens in Mumbai (April 30).

"We regret to inform you that the SCORPIONS 'Coming Home' India tour stands cancelled due to unforeseen medical circumstances affecting the band members," BookMyShow wrote in a statement. "We apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused to fans. The band are very keen to perform in India when possible and within their schedule."

All ticket holders will receive automatic refunds within seven to 10 working days.

SCORPIONS' most recent show took place on April 15 in Brussels, Belgium. Earlier this month, vocalist Klaus Meine, 77, had told Rolling Stone India the band was approaching the tour with "this upbeat feeling," adding: "We still enjoy what we're doing. We're still very passionate about things and very excited to go on this road ahead."

No further details about the nature of the medical circumstances have been disclosed.
