Massachusetts metal veterans SHADOWS FALL are closing in on the finish line of their long-awaited comeback album — their first since "Fire From The Sky" in 2012. Frontman Brian Fair confirmed the news, telling fans: "We're rounding the final stretch. I've still got some more work to do."
The band has been building toward this moment with two singles released via MNRK Heavy: "In The Grey" in December 2024 and "Souls Devoured" in May 2025 — their first new material in over 12 years. Fair described the approach: "We dropped the two singles sort of as a tease, and we just wanna bring in everything we've ever done to this record."
On their partnership with MNRK Heavy, Fair praised the label's flexibility: "They've been super flexible about letting us do things the way we need to do 'em."
The band has no history of bringing in outside guests: "We've never really done guest stuff outside of when we did some covers," Fair noted, hinting that the album will remain a pure SHADOWS FALL statement.
Live shows are also planned post-release, though Fair tempered expectations: "We probably will never tour the way we used to or full time, but we definitely wanna get out there and play some stuff."
Last July, the city of Springfield, Massachusetts — the band's hometown — declared July 18, 2025 "Shadows Fall Day" during their support slot with LAMB OF GOD.
