DEVILDRIVER are back with a vengeance. The California groove metal veterans debuted their new single "Dig Your Own Grave" live for the first time on May 9 at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida — giving fans a first taste of the forthcoming eleventh studio album "Strike And Kill", due July 10 via Napalm Records.
The 13-track record reunites the band with bassist Jon Miller, returning after an absence of over a decade. The lineup features vocalist Dez Fafara, guitarists Alex Lee and Gabe Mangold (who also produced the record), drummer Davier Ortega Perez, and Miller on bass.
Fafara on the creative direction: "What's the direction? Look at the logo, man. The logo will tell you what we fucking need to write." On finishing the album: "When it was done, I actually said to my wife, 'That's it?' And she's like, 'Yeah, that's it, man. You guys got 13 tracks.' And I was like, 'I want more.'"
On the lead single: "It's about how one wrong decision can see your whole world turned upside down."
