Greek virtuoso Gus G (Konstantinos Karamitroudis) — best known as the longtime guitarist of FIREWIND and former six-string weapon of choice for Ozzy Osbourne — has released his sixth solo studio album, "Steel Burner."
The record is a masterclass in neo-classical shred, balancing five instrumental showcases with five vocal-driven tracks. The star-studded guest list includes Doro Pesch (WARLOCK), Matthew Barlow (ASHES OF ARES, ex-ICED EARTH), Ronnie Romero (ex-RAINBOW), and Dino Jelusić (TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA), each bringing a distinct voice to the material.
Gus G described the album as the natural evolution of his relationship with heavy melody and technique. The sonic palette shifts between neo-classical pyrotechnics and full-band heavy metal. The project follows his 2021 all-instrumental record "Quantum Leap," which achieved unexpected commercial success and reaffirmed his standing among modern guitar heroes.
The guitarist, who recently became a father, insists the new milestone won't slow him down on the road. He has European festival dates lined up for 2026 alongside vocalist Ronnie Romero, with full tours planned. On the secret to his 25-year career, Gus G kept it simple: "I don't think there's a secret to this, but if there ever was, I think it would be to keep moving."
FIREWIND, which Gus G has led since 1998, remains his primary creative vehicle alongside his flourishing solo output.
