KINGS OF THRASH — the thrash metal supergroup featuring former MEGADETH members Jeff Young (guitars) and David Ellefson (bass) — have released their new single "Bullets Ready" via Cleopatra Records.
The track features vocals from frontman Chaz Leon alongside a guest appearance from Steve "Zetro" Souza of EXODUS and LEGACY, plus Gabriel Connor of RED DEVIL VORTEX, delivering a bruising thrash attack built on riffs Young says were written three to four years ago: "So no one can say it's A.I."
Perhaps the most striking aspect of "Bullets Ready" is its drum foundation: the rhythmic bedrock was built from demo recordings made by the late Nick Menza, legendary drummer for MEGADETH during their most celebrated creative period. Young acquired the recordings while producing a documentary about Menza, and described writing new riffs alongside them as reconnecting with a "long-lost friend."
Grammy-winning producer Cameron Webb — known for his work with MOTÖRHEAD, DANZIG, and GODSMACK — handled mixing duties. The accompanying music video was shot in Hollywood and at Nelson Valley Ghost Town in Arizona.
KINGS OF THRASH originally formed in April 2022 following a tribute show at the Whisky A Go Go celebrating thrash's "Big Four." Upcoming tour dates include stops across Canada, the U.S., Norway, Ireland, and the U.K.
