SACRED REICH are deep in the final stages of production for their upcoming album Into The Abyss, currently in mixing with veteran thrash metal producer Bill Metoyer. The band confirmed the news on May 9, 2026, giving fans the first detailed update on a record that has been years in the making.
The new album introduces Eduardo Baldo as the band's new drummer — a significant transition for the Arizona thrash legends, who formed in 1985. Baldo brings a fresh energy to the kit while honoring the tight, precise thrash drumming style SACRED REICH built their reputation on. Founding members Phil Rind (vocals/bass) and Wiley Arnett (guitar) remain at the core of the lineup.
Bill Metoyer is a fitting choice to mix the record. The veteran producer and engineer has deep roots in the Los Angeles thrash and hardcore scene, with credits including work alongside bands like SLAYER, DARK ANGEL, and FATES WARNING. His understanding of raw, punishing thrash production ensures Into The Abyss will carry the weight and aggression the style demands.
Into The Abyss will be released on Metal Blade Records, the band's longtime home, later in 2026. SACRED REICH's last album Awakening came out in 2019 and was widely praised as a triumphant return to form after a 23-year gap between studio records.
No specific release date has been announced yet, but with mixing underway, a late 2026 release appears realistic. Fans of classic political thrash metal have every reason to be excited.
