Founding SAXON Guitarist PAUL QUINN Announces 'An Evening With The King' Acoustic Tour

PAUL QUINN, a founding guitarist of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal legends SAXON, has announced an acoustic tour across the U.K. and the Netherlands with his band THE CARDS.

QUINN helped form SAXON in the mid-1970s and remained a fixture for nearly five decades before stepping away from the stage in 2023, when DIAMOND HEAD's Brian Tatler took over his guitar position — a handover QUINN fully endorsed.

His current project, THE CARDS, is an original band pairing QUINN with bassist and keyboardist Harrison Young, who has toured with DORO and U.D.O. Dutch drummer Koen Herfst (VANDENBERG, PLAN NINE) completes the full lineup. The new acoustic outing, billed as "An Evening With The King," strips things back to an intimate duo format, with QUINN and Young performing SAXON classics, THE CARDS originals, and covers of the songs that shaped QUINN's career.

"The initial fear... was at first scary, but seeing so many super fans... made it an even better tour," QUINN said of the format.

The Netherlands dates kick off August 29 at OJA in Aarle-Rixtel (full band), continuing October 2 in Kerkrade and October 4 in Den Haag. The U.K. leg runs through late October: October 25 at The Thunderbolt in Bristol, the 26th at The Half Moon in London, the 27th at The International in Leicester, the 28th at The Brickmakers in Norwich, the 29th at The Patriot in Crumlin, and the 30th at The Ferret in Preston.
