SAVATAGE are reaching back to one of the most pivotal chapters in their history. The progressive metal institution has shared a music video for "Gutter Ballet (Live 1990)" and announced a previously unreleased official live album, "Madness Reigns From The Gutter (1990)," due via earMUSIC.
The record captures the band on their legendary "Rulin' Gutter" tour, the run that followed 1989's landmark "Gutter Ballet." Restored from the original master tapes and newly mixed and mastered, the 19-track set documents SAVATAGE at full voltage — crushing riffs, theatrical ambition and raw emotional intensity from a band in the midst of transformation.
"The 'Gutter' tour was SAVATAGE at its live show peak," recalled frontman Jon Oliva. "It was six months where madness definitely reigned in the gutter."
The accompanying video for "Gutter Ballet" weaves together rare memorabilia, archival material and footage from the original promo clip with live performance from the 1990 trek, serving as a retrospective of the band's most defining era. That lineup featured Jon Oliva (vocals, keyboards), the late Criss Oliva (guitar), Chris Caffery (guitar), Johnny Lee Middleton (bass) and Steve "Doc" Wacholz (drums).
"Madness Reigns From The Gutter (1990)" arrives June 26 in Europe, with a U.S. physical release to follow on September 18. It will be available as a CD digipak, a heavyweight black 3LP gatefold and digitally worldwide. The 19-song tracklist spans early classics and fan favorites including "Sirens," "Power Of The Night," "Hall Of The Mountain King," "The Dungeons Are Calling," "When The Crowds Are Gone" and the title track of "Gutter Ballet."
The release coincides with SAVATAGE's 2026 "Prelude To Madness" European tour, the band's celebrated return to the stage after years away.
